LANGLEY PARK

Langley Park is a beautiful place to 'escape from it all', take the dog for a walk, go horse riding, cycling or just walking. Or relax with a picnic by the lake or under the beautiful trees and simply watch the world go by.  With patience you may even be lucky enough to see some of the wide variety of wildlife in the park such as deer and foxes, and if you listen carefully you can hear the Great Spotted Woodpeckers tat tatting on many of the veteran trees.

The Langley Park Estate lies in south Buckinghamshire in the parish of Wexham.  It is made up of the historic Langley Park, Black Park and the adjoining Rowley Farm.

The estate represents a fascinating and significant piece of our countryside heritage.  Layer upon layer of history can be traced in the Estate’s landscapes since 1202.  Explore and you will find:

  • ancient parkland with veteran trees providing a living link to the past;
  • avenues, tree groups, lakes and buildings representing the pinnacle of eighteenth century landscape design;
  • an awe inspiring arboretum;
  • a fine collection of rhododendrons;
  • grand vistas;
  • old lanes and ancient boundaries …..the list goes on.

There is a wealth of history at Langley Park, and remnants of this can still be seen today, including the ornate gates and bits of fencing, which are part of the original deer fencing. The Temple Gardens, from the Victorian era, hold a collection of rhododendrons of national significance, one of which is even called Langley or Langley Park.  There is much character, and today it has a range of different and very important wildlife habitats, including woodland, heathland, wetlands and grassland covering its 130 acres. It is a place to come and relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
